Third Announcement

Dear EAA2010 participants, Dear Colleagues,

there are only 14 weeks left to the conference opening on August 29th. Our conference preparations are moving into their final stages. We are now beginning to attend to very specific details of the conference programme, venue and side events. In this Third Circular, we would like to update you on the latest developments and provide you with further important information.


Programme

the final programme of the scientific sessions and all details regarding side events will be available at the conference webpage, not later than by mid-July. Below is a draft schedule, just to help you to make decision about your arrival and departure time.

The success of a conference depends ultimately on the programme and the participants. One hundred seventy four participants have registered up to date and submitted 153 abstracts of scientific contributions. The number of participants and of papers to be presented confirms the ever liveliness of our association.

Registration and the scientific sessions

Arrival and finding your way to your hotel and the conference venue

  • from the airport you can take taxi or the buses No L and 51 which stops at Bałtyk just near the AMU Youth Hostel; from there you can take other municipal transportations to get to your hotel;
  • to see the schedule of trams and buses please visit http://www.mpk.poznan.pl (choose English),
  • to reach Collegium Biologicum you have to take PST tram No 12, 14, 15 from Rondo Kaponiera to Os. Sobieskiego until the last tram stop and then walk approx 10 minutes.


Presentations

the accepted abstracts will be published in the Book of Abstracts,
the programme of the conference will be available at the conference webpage - navigation bar Programme since July 15th.

  • all invited talks will be 45 minutes long followed by 5-10 minutes of discussion,
  • all contributed talks will be 15 minutes long including 2-3 minutes of discussion,
  • the poster size is 90 X 110 cm; the posters should be displayed for the whole duration of the conference; the presenting author is required to attend during the poster sessions to discuss the work presented and to answer questions; handouts of the poster are often appreciated by persons interested in the poster; the dedicated poster sessions will be placed in the programme.
  • overhead projector and a PC data projectors will be on disposal,
  • the presentation must be handed to the organizers on CD disc or USB pen to be copied to the laptop of the Lecture Hall well before the session starts,
  • speakers should check the computer presentations on the conference laptop well before their sessions start.

 



Publication - submission guidelines

As announced in the first circular, the organizers intend to publish a Congress Book with papers presented in the congress. The manuscript of the book will be submitted to the publishing house of the AMU, Poznań. The book will be printed in white and black.
Participants interested in this publication are asked to send their manuscripts in electronic form (word, excel files) to the email address of the congress secretariat eaa2010@amu.edu.pl by the 20th of September 2010. The papers will be peer-reviewed.
For the publication, we ask contributors to follow the rules:

 

The paper should be:

The paper should have the following sections, each starting on a new page.


  • original text, not text already published
    elsewhere,
  • in either British or American English; checked by a native speaker before submission if author is not a native speaker of English,
  • total length of each paper should not exceed 20 type written pages including tables, figures and reference list,
  • text in Times New Roman 12, with symbol font for Greek letters, double line spacing, margins 2.5 cm each side, left justified,
  • all pages should be numbered consecutively, at the bottom.

1. Title page: Title of the paper; name of author(s) with first name and middle initials; institutional affiliation of each author; e-mail of the corresponding author; running title of no more than 40 character and spaces; acknowledgements.
2. Abstract of up to 200 words, followed by 4-6 key words
3. Text of the paper must be divided into
sections: Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results; Discussion; Conclusion;
References; Figure legends; Tables; Figures, graphs. Each section should have begun on a new page.


References

The paper should have the following sections, each starting on a new page.


In the text, references should be cited by name and year, giving page reference if necessary; for example (Clahsen 1991:252), (Adams and Dickinson 1981) or as in Brown et al. (1991:288).
All references in the text should appear in the References section where should be listed alphabetically by first authors (including all co-authors) and chronologically for given author (beginning with the most recent date of publication). Where the same author has more than one publication in a year, lower case letter should be added after the date (e.g. 1999a, 199b, etc.). Examples:

Dennerstein, L., Dudley, E.C., Hopper, J.L., Guthrie, J.R., and Burger, H.G., 2000, A Prospective population-based study of menopausal symptoms. Obstetrics and

Figure legends should be numbered
sequentially as they appear in the text i.e.
Figure 1, Figure 2, etc., and a caption should appear directly below each figure. The figures in the text should be referred to as Fig. 1 and so on.
Tables should be numbered sequentially as they appear, i.e. Table 1, Table 2, etc. Brief title should be included above the table. Each table should be double spaced without vertical or horizontal lines. The tables in the text should be referred to as Table 1 and so on.
Figures, graphs may be *xls or TIFF format
Mathematical Equations may be created by using equation editor or may be prepared as an image, a TIFF file.
File naming - when naming your file please use your own surname and then add what appropriate: text, table, figure legends etc.

Social events & wheather

during August/September rainy days and hot sunny days alternate frequently; you can check temperature at our webpage – navigation bar Useful info; kindly take changes in weather in consideration; jacket, pullover, and umbrella are recommended. For all side events but Tuesday formal attire is requested.

admission to scientific sessions and side-events is limited to those wearing badges. Please wear your badge at all times!

Please note that on June 30th the online registration and bank transfer payment will be closed. We would like to take the opportunity to apologise to those participants who were experiencing difficulties transferring the conference fee. We would advise you to pay on-site after you have arrived.
